iPhone & iPod Touch Game Review: Sentinel 'Mars Defense'

Sentinel: Mars Defense

Ok, so I've played quite a few games on the iPhone and until I came across this one, I hadn't found anything that held my attention for more than a few days.  Anyone that knows StarCraft will understand this game almost immediately.  It's a defense game in which you build canons, guns, and all matter of weaponry in an attempt to keep a number of unwanted guests out of your Mars base camp!  Let's have a look at the first stage screen so you can get an idea of what I mean.  The design is cool and the sound is good too!

In the above shot, you can see some dudes coming in from the left side of the screen.  I've built a number of machine guns here which are starting to shoot the leaders of this pack of enemies.  Notice, that along this path are two walls.  When the monsters get past the last wall, you're dead.  It's for this reason, you need to choose and upgrade your weapons wisely.  Not only that, you need to think about weapon placement as well and find the different combinations that work best for you.  The iPhone has never been more fun.  Sentinel is a very, very, fun game!  By stretching the iPhone's screen out a bit, you can get a better look at the Sentinel layout.  Let's have a look.

I've done not such a good job of defending my wall and as a result, you can see it's starting to bend a bit in the center.  Also notice (I know it's a little hard to see) the health indicators above the enemies and the large indicator above my wall.  These will indicate the remaining health of each individual.  iPhone & iPod touch turns out to be a great platform for this kind of strategy / action game and I simply can't set it down!  What's better yet?  They are giving this version of the game away for FREE until Christmas!  Time to get in on the action and download Sentinel now!  After you complete this one, check out their other releases and maybe hook these guys up with a little cash!  They certainly deserve it, this game rocks!
