A larger percentage of the United States public are Atheist than Jewish, Black, Hispanic, or NRA members, all of which have a larger representation in the US government.  It bothers me that so much of our policy making is guided by groups that don't reflect the beliefs of a large percentage of Americans.

I'm not saying that all policies should be guided by non-believers.  I'm simply saying that non-believers, being around roughly 15% of the American people deserve some kind of voice in our policy making.

There are more Americans who say they are not affiliated with any organized religion than there are Episcopalians, Methodists, and Lutherans combined, yet those Americans have absolutely no voice in American politics and that should bother all Americans believers or not.

Interesting point. I suppose the best option would be to have it the way the founders had originally hoped, separation of church and state. Although, since the evangelical invasion of the 80's I suppose there may be no other way really to represent the logical thinking, scientific community other than what you are suggesting.

Do we really need luxury cruise ships that can hold 7,300 people?
